Wendl & Lung have developed an excellent Real Touch silent system for their superb 122 model upright that allows the pianist to switch between normal piano use and digital midi tone available through headphones.
Flick a switch and the piano is silenced by a bar that stops the hammers hitting the strings. The slim box located unobtrusively under the keyboard provides midi output and headphone sound. The sensors under the keys are touch sensitive, so the digital sound will replicate the dynamics of the real piano.
The silent system is factory fitted and has no effect on the touch or tone of the piano, so you can play all night long without disturbing anyone. The model 122 with Real Touch silent system is available to buy from £4495 or to rent from £75 per month.
